Pete Burds serves as the Chief Mission Officer for NET Ministries, overseeing missionary formation, training, and programming, as well as YDisciple, leadership development, and mission expansion. Ever since encountering Jesus Christ through a high school youth ministry program, he has used his five loaves and two fish for the sake of building the kingdom. Through storytelling, leading retreats, and 15+ years of experience in ministry, he has proclaimed the freedom found in Christ to thousands. He and his family live in St. Paul, MN.
A parish mission is a mini retreat designed for busy people, an opportunity to step back a bit, slow down, and simply reconnect our lives with God; a time of spiritual refreshment and invigoration. It is something special and out of the ordinary. We invite a keynote speaker to lead the mission and give a series of inspirational talks centered around a theme, with intentional time for prayer, and Sacraments. A parish mission is an opportunity for the parish community to grow spiritually and to experience the love of Jesus Christ in their midst.
At Lumen Christi Parish
A parish mission is for EVERYONE. This is for the individual who have fallen away from the Church, those who are seeking, parish members who are in the pews every Sunday and everyone in between. It is for you, your family members, your friends, your neighbor, your barista at Colectivo. It is for those of all ages. You SHOULD invite someone to come with you - do not make this journey alone!
Each session, you can expect to hear a dynamic message from Pete Burds who will share personal stories, examples and meaning bringing scripture to life and making our faith incredibly real and relatable. Each night will have a prayer opportunity, led either by Pete Burds or parish leadership. There will be time before and after for fellowship and small group conversations.
YES! You will WANT to be at all three mission talks, but if your schedule allows you to make one or two that is great too. The message each night is different and they will relate to one another but do not rely on one another. You can attend ANY of the mission talks without feeling like you have missed major content.
Yes - we want EVERYONE to be able to participate. The Parish Mission Sunday afternoon, as well as Monday & Tuesday evening will be live-streamed. The Monday morning session will not be live streamed. Join us whether you are homebound for the event, traveling for work, or wintering south! We want you to be a part of this wherever you are.
Each Keynote address will speak to your heart whether you are 10 or 110. Our speaker is just that good and relatable. We are not specifically advertising a night to a targeted audience but are encouraging families and individuals of all ages to attend each session.
YES! Sunday is an afternoon event 1:00-2:30 PM. Monday morning Pete Burds is giving his keynote talk at 9:30 AM in St. Cecilia Hall, his message will be repeated Monday evening.
Because of the generous stewardship of our parish members, the parish mission is free for all to attend. We hope you will come to see the great ministry and fruits of your financial gifts.
If you are bringing your teen to the mission, why wouldn't you stay?

Meals are "soup & substance" style. We are asking parish members to help make soups/salads/side dishes for each day. You do not have to make anything to enjoy a meal.
We do appreciate RSPVS for each meal so we can prepare enough food for everyone.
RSVP here for Parish Mission meals!
YES! There will be a priest (or two) at the end of each day/evening available for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. We hope that you will take advantage of it!
