The Pastor's Desk
Reverend John D. Hemsing was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. He was educated in the parochial school of St. Peter Claver Parish and De Sales Seminary High School. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Marquette University (Milwaukee), a Masters of Divinity degree from St. Francis Seminary (Milwaukee), and a Doctor of Ministry Degree from the Graduate Theological Foundation (South Bend, Indiana).
The Most Reverend Richard J. Sklba, Auxiliary Bishop of Milwaukee, ordained Father Hemsing to the Diaconate on September 26, 1987 and the Most Reverend Rembert G. Weakland, Archbishop of Milwaukee, ordained him to the Roman Catholic Priesthood on May 20, 1988.
Father Hemsing has served as Associate Pastor at Immaculate Conception Parish (Milwaukee) from 1988-1993; Associate Pastor at St. Mary Parish (Waukesha) from 1993-1996; and Pastor at St. Clare Parish (Wind Lake, Wisconsin) from 1996-2008. Fr. Hemsing was appointed to Lumen Christi Parish of Mequon-Thiensville, Wisconsin on June 17, 2008.
Fr. John, as he prefers to be called, believes that God calls each of us to serve Him by loving and serving one another in varying ways using the gifts we have been given. Lumen Christi has a wonderful reputation of being a welcoming, generous and prayerful faith community. Fr. John considers it a great blessing to be a member of such a faith-filled community and to be called to offer his gifts as Pastor. Father John's office is location in the Parish office building in Mequon.
