Rev. John D. Hemsing
Pastor

Reverend John D. Hemsing was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. He was educated in the parochial school of St. Peter Claver Parish and De Sales Seminary High School. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Marquette University, a Master of Divinity degree from St. Francis Seminary (both located in Wisconsin), and a Doctor of Ministry Degree from the Graduate Theological Foundation (South Bend, Indiana). Fr. John, as he prefers to be called, believes that God calls each of us to serve Him by loving and serving one another in varying ways using gifts we have been given. Lumen Christi has a wonderful reputation of being a welcoming, generous and prayerful faith community. Fr. John considers it a great blessing to be a member of such a faith-filled community and to be called to offer his gifts as Pastor. Fr. Rev. Peter Berger
Associate Pastor
|
Father Peter Berger is originally from Wauwatosa,
having grown up at St. Jude the Apostle Parish. He considered entering
the priesthood seriously while preparing for his Confirmation. He
then joined the St. Francis Seminary College program and attended
Marquette University. After graduating in 2000 with a degree in
Theology and Philosophy, he entered St. Francis Seminary and on
Saturday, May 21, 2005, was ordained at St. John’s Cathedral. He
considers it an honor to be back here as a priest, having done his
deacon preaching here. Fr. Peter is located in
the Parish office building in Mequon.

Karen Bersch
Liturgical Coordinator

Karen Bersch joined the parish staff as the part-time Music & Liturgy Assistant in Mequon in July 2004. In addition, Karen is the staff musician and plays flute at many of the weekend liturgies. Karen and her husband, Fred, have four children – three boys and one girl. In Karen’s free time she enjoys reading, gardening, baking, and entertaining. Karen’s office is located in the lower level of the Mequon Parish Office.

Lee Ann Blackmer
Office Assistant

Lee Ann Blackmer has been the Administrative Assistant
since May 2004. Hers is the first smiling face you see when you
enter the Parish Offices in Mequon. Previously Lee Ann worked as
a Montessori Directress and Chrisian Education Director. Lee Ann and her husband, David, have two grown children, and live in Cedarburg. In Lee Ann's free time she enjoys scrapbooking,
entertaining, reading, singing and playing piano. |

Margaret Caldwell
Director of Music & Liturgy in Thiensville

Margaret Caldwell joined the parish staff in July 2003 as the Director of Music & Liturgy in Thiensville. Margaret has worked for the Catholic Church since 1984. Prior to July 2003, she had worked for nine years at St. Anthony on the Lake in Delafield as the Director of Music & Liturgy. Margaret has two daughters, Katy, 19, and Molly, 17. In Margaret’s free time she enjoys reading, watching “Seinfeld” reruns, and playing “Big Boggle” with friends and family. Margaret is also a member of the Archdiocesan Liturgical Musicians Association (AMLA). Margaret’s office is located at Lumen Christi in Thiensville. |

Dave Foti
Maintenance
Supervisor

Dave Foti joined the Maintenance Staff in May of 2005 and is the Maintenance Supervisor for the Parish and School at both the Mequon and Thiensville sites. Dave comes to us from Holy Family Catholic Parish in Whitefish Bay, where he worked for 14 years. Dave and his wife, Debbie, have three dogs and live in Brown Deer. In his free time, Dave enjoys shopping, woodworking, yardwork, and collecting movies. Dave’s office is located in the basement of the school at the Mequon campus. |

Jill Gahn

Jill Gahn joined the parish staff as part-time Music & Liturgy Assistant for the Mequon site in September 2004. Jill and her husband, Tony, have four children – three boys and one girl. In Jill’s free time she enjoys reading, cooking, traveling, and entertaining. Jill’s office is located in the lower level of the Parish Office in Mequon. |

Gloria Markowski
Principal

Gloria Markowski is the principal of Lumen Christi School. Her office is split between Lumen Christi Mequon
and Thiensville campuses. At UW-Milwaukee, she received her BS degree with a major in Elementary Education;Grades 1-6 and a minor is Social Science. She also received her Masters degree in Administrative Leadership. Previously, she was the principal at St. Charles Borromeo School, and taught at St. Mary's and St. Sylvester schools. A devout Catholic, Gloria's family attends Holy Apostles Parish in New Berlin. Gloria is the youngest of five children and enjoys spending time with her four nieces and nephew. She is engaged to be married. In her free time, Gloria enjoys boating, swimming, reading, and the Green Bay Packers.

Peggy Hughes
Director of Music & Liturgy
in Mequon

Peggy Hughes joined the Parish staff in 1988 as the
Director of Music and Liturgy in Mequon, and continues in that role. Peggy loves the fact that her job allows her to interact
with an array of different people each day. She also enjoys the variety
of ministries that fall under the “liturgy umbrella” and
feels that it’s the variety that enables people to serve in
a multitude of different ways. Peggy and her husband, Bill, have four
grown children – three daughters and one son. In her free time
Peggy enjoys cooking, reading, and spending time with her family.

Jennifer Klecker
Associate Director for
Youth Ministry &
Outreach

Jennifer Klecker joined the Catholic Formation
staff in July 2004 and is the Associate Director for Youth Ministry.
She is in charge of coordinating confirmation, retreats, the teen
leadership council, and youth catechetical ministry classes. Prior
to joining the staff, Jennifer attended Cardinal Stritch University
majoring in Art Education. While at Stritch, Jennifer's free time
consisted of service as she went on numerous immersion programs and
made service trips to Tanzania and Italy . Jennifer has also organized
many retreats. Jennifer is from Owatonna , MN and in her free time
she enjoys painting, camping, and is presently teaching herself how
to play guitar. Jennifer's office is located in St. Cecilia House, in Thiensville. |

Joan Kress
Associate Director for Child Ministry |
Joan Kress, Associate Director for Child Ministry, joined our staff in January 2005. Joan enjoys working with our K-5 children, catechists and parents and is excited about the opportunity to help families and children to build a solid and important faith foundation. Joan, husband Tom and their 5 children (including 13-year-old quadruplets) moved to Mequon in January 2004. In Joan’s free time she volunteers at Steffen Middle School and for other local organizations, plays tennis and enjoys being outdoors with her family. Joan ’s office is located in the Catholic Formation office cluster, in Thiensville. |

Marilyn Malcolm
Secretary, Adult & Child Ministries

Marilyn Malcolm is the Catholic Formation Secretary for both Adult Ministries and Child Minisitries. She is grateful for the opportunity to work in the Church and with so many good people, both among the staff and throughout the parish. She and her husband, Jim, are parishioners at Lumen Christi and have three children in high school and college. In her spare time she enjoys reading, spending time with her family and friends, and just being with and learning about Jesus. Her office is located in the Catholic Formation office cluster, in Thiensville. |

Deacon Tony Monfre
Deacon
|
Deacon Tony Monfre and his family joined our parish in 1992.
Ten years later, in June 2002, Tony was ordained a deacon. Tony’s
main ministry as a Deacon is with the prison system. He is a volunteer
chaplain in the Milwaukee Criminal Justice Facility and the Dodge/Waupan
Correctional Institute. Here in Mequon, Deacon Tony finds himself
“energized by the faith and hospitality of the parish community”
and says that the people minister to him and strengthen his faith
life. Deacon Tony is also the Director of Administrative Services
for Holy Family Parish in Whitefish Bay. In his free time, he enjoys
traveling, reading, and gardening. |

Jim Piotrowski
Director of Administrative Services |
Jim Piotrowski, Director of Administrative Services, joined the staff in June 2003. Jim is charged with overseeing the parish finances, human resources, facilities, and grounds. Previously, Jim worked for five years as Director of Administrative Services for St. Bernard Parish in Wauwatosa, and before that he was involved in commercial banking. In his free time, Jim and his wife, Jennie, take great pride in supporting the athletic and cultural endeavors of their two children. When he’s able to make time, Jim also enjoys playing golf. Jim’s office is located in the Parish office building in Mequon. |

Bonnie Reineking joined the parish staff as a part-time Administrative Assistant and Bulletin Editor in August 2001. She is in her office Monday - Wednesday. Bonnie had an 18-year career at Boston Store as a manager and buyer. She lives in Grafton with her husband, Rich and in her free time, Bonnie enjoys gardening, traveling, hiking, and biking. Bonnie’s office is located in the Parish office building in Mequon. |

Carol Roltgen joined the Catholic Formation staff as a secretary in July 2002 bringing 9 years of working CF experience from St. Mary's in Menomonee Falls, WI. Carol is the secretary for Youth Ministry and juggles work for both Vicki and Jennifer. Carol enjoys her job because of its diversity and because of the wonderful people she encounters daily. She is married to Dan and is the proud mother of four sons and six grandchildren. In Carol’s free time, she enjoys camping, continual formational education, reading, playing with her grandchildren and traveling. Carol’s office is located in the Catholic Formation office cluster, in Thiensville. |

Terri Schiller joined the Catholic Formation staff in August 2003 and is the Associate Director for Adult Formation. Previously, Terri was the Pastoral Associate for Christian Formation at St. Joseph's Parish in Grafton. Terri feels strongly about her position and the importance of cultivating and nurturing faith growth with adults. Terri is married and has four children. In her free time she enjoys gardening, reading, and biking. Terri's office is located in the Catholic Formation office cluster, in Thiensville. |

Kathleen Schilz
Office Administrator

Kathleen Schilz joined the parish staff as the Office Administrator in March 2004. She brings 8 years of office management skills from Trinity Community Church in Brown Deer. Kathleen is the Facility Scheduler for the entire parish and school, maintains all the sacramental records and updates our website, among other responsibilities. She and her husband, Tim, live in Brown Deer and are parents to two adult sons. Kathleen enjoys reading, sewing, and singing for the Bel Canto Chorus. Kathleen's office is located in the Parish office building in Mequon. |

Kathy Shields and her two daughters, Clair and Anne, have been members of Lumen Christi since 1988. Kathy handles all baptism preparation for Lumen Christi and she also serves as the coordinator for the catechetical youth ministry program. In addition, Kathy is a special education teacher for Webster Middle School in Cedarburg. In her free time, Kathy enjoys reading, needlework, and keeping up with her daughters. Mike Spitz

Mike Spitz has been the Network Administrator for the school and our two church sites since July 1997. Mike’s job entails installing, managing, and maintaining the computer network for the two parishes, the school, and Catholic Formation at both locations. When he has some time, he enjoys grilling, going to movies, and spending time with his wife, their two daughters and friends. Mike is also a devoted Packer fan. When Mike isn’t dealing with computer issues, he can be found in his office located on the school's first floor at the Mequon campus. |

Maria Watson
Associate Director for
School Advancement

Maria Watson, Associate Director for School Advancement, joined the parish staff in June 2006. Maria is responsible for the school’s fundraising activities, as well as handling alumni relations and communications for the school. Previously, Maria worked in community relations and marketing for Wild Space Dance Company and as the Public Relations and Marketing Manager for the Waukesha County Chamber of Commerce. Maria, and her husband Sean, live in Wauwatosa and have one daughter. In her free time, she enjoys walking in her neighborhood, reading, spending time with her family and friends, and playing kickball in a local league. Maria’s office is located in school building in Mequon. |

Joe Wenzler
Parish Deacon |
Deacon Joe Wenzler has been a long-time member of the parish, and a Deacon since 1994. He and his wife, Ann, are the proud parents of Lisa and Jeff and four grandchildren. One of the most rewarding parts of his ministry “is to be able to walk side by side with people on their faith journey, as they allow me to be a part of the joys, sorrows, and struggles of their lives.” In Deacon Joe’s free time, he enjoys his many volunteer involvements, reading, and golf (a new pastime that he is enjoying).
