at the Mequon Campus may participate in forensics during February and
March. Some of the usual types of public speaking they do are interpretive
readings, small group dramatic presentations, demonstration speeches,
and extemporaneous speaking. At the end of March, they compete with students
from surrounding North Shore schools at a meet. Students are awarded ribbons
for their efforts. Most of Lumen Christi students have historically come
home with blue ribbons.
Our beginning Strings program is available for 2nd and 3rd graders at Lumen Christi School, and continues to be available for grades 4 through 8. Students have the option of playing violin, viola, cello, or bass (providing they are tall enough to play bass). 2nd and 3rd grader lessons take place after school on Thursdays for approximately one hour. Grades 4 through 8 students have their lessons during school on Thursdays, alternating periods each week so as not to miss too much of one class. We play a mix of solo and ensemble pieces for our Winter and Spring concerts, and serenade parents in the hall during Open House. Fall registration for strings will be sometime during the first few weeks of school. Watch for details! Mrs. Jacquie Crema Mr. Larry Theiss, the middle school music teacher, produces a spring musical almost every year. Some of the plays that Larry and his students have presented are Sound of Music, Godspell, Jesus Christ Superstar, The Wiz, and The Miracle Worker. Watch for notices to get involved.
